Doing what I have to do

So yesterday I quit band. It's certainly general knowledge by now.

Everyone's main question is "Why?"

So I thought I would give it an answer.

Every year in band, its been a real struggle. I am willing to work my butt off every year. I want to be in a good band...what have done for all my time at central, is not a good band...it's not fun. Each year, I'd just tell myself, "The next year will be better." So my sophomore year comes around, and I get burned. Junior year, same thing. This year comes. I'm thinking this is it, I can tell. But yesterday during practice, it hit me. I could see it, we were already headed for another year like all the others.

At the moment, I had been given push-ups. Now there was nothing wrong with the push-ups and my section leader was in the right to give them to me. But as I was doing them, it hit me: This band is not even worth my push-ups. I realized that my hard work was just going to be met by disappointments.

I know you're thinking, "Get over yourself." I'm not as stuck-up as I sound...I'm just tired.
