Akijikan: A Renaissance and a Broken Dream

Hello all you readers (all being Simon and my girlfriend). I know that I have been AWOL concerning this blog. I may be down, but I am not out. I may be behind, but I am here to catch up.

I am here to announce a renaissance in this blog. I am going back to my roots! I am going to concetrate on photos. I think that they have always been the best part of this blog. I'm bringing them back!

I had been ready to make that happen today. Unfortunately my plans were foiled. I was going to pst a photo-documentation of my first trip to the Plasma bank and my experiences donating plasma.

Unfortunately I was stopped dead in my tracks by the manager of the place. By bringing a camera in there and taking pictures of the process, I was expressing total disregard for HIPAA (which basically says patients have a right to privacy; see the link to wikipedia for more).

She made sure to see me delete all my photos from the facility. Too bad. I had a really good picture from the finger prick for a blood sample.

Don't worry though. I will be bringing the photos! I am embarking on a trip to LaCrosse, Wisconsin to visit my girlfriend and see her new apartment.

Stay tuned!

PS: Also as part of this renaissance will be an updated layout. I'm thinking something fluid.

Yeah...HIPAA gets a little retarded afterwhile. My mom nearly has to jump through flaming hoops whenever Froedtert Hospital calls. All she wants to know is stuff about billing, but they go through their whole spiel about how they have to protect my privacy, even if she is my mother. I'm not sure how much everyone would really want to see a bloody dot on your finger or the massive needle in your arm anyhow. Know what? I just realized that we won't get back to my apartment until around 4 am tomorrow morning. While the flight is cheap and all, I'm not quite sure it's worth it to have to drive 20 hours. Ah well, now we know for next time.
