New Toy

So yesterday I picked up my new toy, my Yashicamat 124g.

I spent all day yesterday trying to trackdown a battery to power the light meter, and get a couple of rolls of film to take some initial test shots.

I've already shot both rolls, A Kodak Tri-X ISO 400 and A Kodak TMax ISO 100. I under exposed some of the 100 because I shot the 400 first, and I realized a few shots into the 100, I still had the meter set for 400.

I have to compensate for the meter because I'm using the only available replacement for the now illegal 1.3 volt mercury cell originally used to power it. Now there's a 1.5 volt battery and it does throw the meter off. I'll know how much after I get the pictures back.

Cool, huh? That's the view through the magnifying glass used to focus your shot before you compose it through the ground glass.

Careful, it's looking at you.

UTC has a dark room for students. I think it is in the fine arts building.

A beautiful camera. I LOVE old cameras eventhough I take bad pictures with them :)

I took one of these apart once (I have a couple of other TLRs) and now I use one of the lenses (after some modifications) as a macro lens for my digital camera. It works great.
