Yashicamat 124g for Sale

You see that beauty I introduced you all to in the last post? It's for sale.

Its on eBay, if you're interested, the auction is here. You can start the bidding at 89.95 or Buy It Now for 150 dollars. Ends Sunday Night at 7:57 pm. If you are local (in or near Chattanooga, TN) we can arrange a meeting or pickup to avoid shipping charges.

Why am I selling it? Because I can't afford to get the film developed and printed and I have no way to do it myself. It shoots 120 or medium format film (6cm x 6cm negatives) which is used by serious amateurs and professionals. This camera is a good entry into medium format photography. I've just decided that medium format isn't for me.

I'm going to try to go the way of a Digital SLR. I like my brother's 20D, so I want something like it (but cheaper). So I'm going for a Digita Rebel (not the XT, but the first one). Anyone got one they're willing to let go of for 3-400? Just a little discount for an apsiring photographer? ;)

New Toy

So yesterday I picked up my new toy, my Yashicamat 124g.

I spent all day yesterday trying to trackdown a battery to power the light meter, and get a couple of rolls of film to take some initial test shots.

I've already shot both rolls, A Kodak Tri-X ISO 400 and A Kodak TMax ISO 100. I under exposed some of the 100 because I shot the 400 first, and I realized a few shots into the 100, I still had the meter set for 400.

I have to compensate for the meter because I'm using the only available replacement for the now illegal 1.3 volt mercury cell originally used to power it. Now there's a 1.5 volt battery and it does throw the meter off. I'll know how much after I get the pictures back.

Cool, huh? That's the view through the magnifying glass used to focus your shot before you compose it through the ground glass.

Careful, it's looking at you.

Bowling Pictures

These pictures are kinda old (7-18-04). Any one who has looked through my gallery has seen these pictures. I thought they were pretty cool. My family went bowling for fun, and I brought a long the digicam.

Wow...two posts in a row that weren't about food...don't worry, I have some food posts on the back-burner. ;)
