A Day at the beach...er...parking lot!

Okay, so everywhere around here I've seen seagulls in parking lots.

Now what is the deal with this.  Are they migratory (please pronounce that "my-GREAT-uh-ree" ala Monty Python)?  If they are you'd think they'd be heading for warm weather.  It certainly has not been warm.  I don't know why they're here.  But man, they are more scavgenger-ly than I previously thought!

Powerful Stuff

Where I work at Bi-Lo, there is a TV, VCR, and Computer in the breakroom for watching training videos and taking computer courses for training, but the title of this video takes the cake. The power of California Strawberries? Disregarding the title, why would a grocery store need to be trained in something so specific? No grocery store has a person designated strawberry person, and I'm willing to bet none of the produce guys would be able to tell me a thing about califonia strawberries. Wow.

Who would have thunk it?

was at Mia Cucina [theplaceforcooks.com] and I ran across the most peculiar thing. They stock rolling pins made by none other than the Vic Firth [vicfirth.com] company.

I have been a drummer for a long time and have long enjoyed using Vic Firth Sticks, but I never would have thought that they made rolling pins.

They have a cool metal handle that is shaped to the hand, and they have ball bearings too. Quality stuff.

I'm also part of the Tremor marketing research group and I listen to music and stuff and tell them if I like it and they send me free stuff from time to time. I got BOGO coupons for cherry or vanilla coke...and a soft-squeeze mini-vanilla coke bottle.

WTC replacement sucks?

I noticed this awesome thing about how the replacement for the Twin Towers sucks.

Wow...

Okay, I know everyone loves a dumb crook, so here's a local story...

A man stole a camcorder from a lady, and in the get away accidentally pressed record. He didn't know it, and later pawned the camera. The camcorder was later recovered with the incriminating tape still in it! The tape showed the get away and even recorded a discussion with 2 other suspects about the robbery.

People amaze me...

Men At Work

Today when I came home from school, I saw that Hamilton County was finishing the road that runs in front of our house. I figured they would.

the road from our driveway

a tanker full of asphalt

two county trucks at the end of our driveway

holding up traffic at the end of the road

So now our road is level again, and the end is finished all clean. It'd be real good to skate or bike on right now...too bad I do neither. And I'm leaving that sentence that way despite what my girlfriend thinks it sounds like. For some reason they're still waiting right there. They're not working on this road at all. I wish I had been home when they were using the steam roller, but they were through with that now. Oh well.

Men (No Longer?) At Work and a Late Birthday Salute

The Hamilton County people came by to repave the road that runs in front of our house.

the road directly from our driveway

It seems like they did an incomplete job. They left one direction higher than the other, and at one end of the road they ended it very sloppily. What a mess. I certainly hope (and doubt) they are not finished. Altough to me it seems if they weren't finished they would have come back to complete it already. It's been that way for almost a week now.

Also, yesterday was Sam's birthday. Happy Birthday Sam. A link to his journal is to the right under "Exit Links."

Yeah...

So this morning my mom is in the living room and she screams.

She runs into the kitchen where I am, and says that Tiger (our cat, who incidentally, is not a tiger) has a giant rat in its mouth.

My sister tries to get Tiger out of the living room and makes a startling discovery.

This rat is actually a young rabbit.

My sister chases the cat around who will not let go of the rabbit. When the cat finally lets go, my sister traps the rabbit under some tupperware. Now she wants to pick up the tupperware to get the rabbit. The rabbit gets away and runs into our "storage room"/supposed-to-be-dining-room.

We don't know what to do.

We need the cat to get it again.

So we close the cats in the room with the rabbit.

I'm not sure what happened, but somehow my sister got the rabbit. She set it loose in the woods. It had a gash on its back, but it'll be okay.

Tiger is so weird/amazing.

Weather as scary as hail

Haha...say hail, and that what it sounds like when a redneck southern says hell...lol

Anyway, we had a pretty cool storm here, It was lots of rain and lots of lightning, and even small (3cm diameter?) hail. I haven't seen hail in forever, so that was weird. Esepecially since my dad told us to pray for hail so it would damage the roof and make the insurance pay for it instead of us just having to replace it now. Lol. It was fun to watch from the front porch, and if you're expecting pictures, well, don't be dissapointed!

ice falling into the garden area.

the water began piling up

and piling up

and piling up

uh...you know what I'm gonna say here

our garden took hail and hell

more hail

the new plant couldn't take it, and was practically obliterated before the whole ordeal was over

I wish I could have gotten some time lapse shots to see if I could capture some lightning, maybe next time.

Its just past 1:30 AM and I am waiting for my girlfriend. She's going to be here for almost 2 weeks! Yay! I can't wait, its going to be awesome!
